i think… net art… is kind of lazy! hahah like the whole "get it??? it’s ugly ON PURPOSE" thing pretty quickly started feeling gimmicky and transparent to me

making things that look deliberately shitty and bad for irony’s sake is interesting for a second but MAN OH MAN is it ever a trillion times easier than making something actually beautiful or genuine

idk. there’s obviously ppl out there doing interesting and cool stuff with the aesthetic but it feels like so, so much of it is just “UR HUR HUR IT’S IRONICALLY TACKY AND HARD TO LOOK AT GIVE ME YOUR IRONIC PRAISE” and that tuckers me out a lil bit :)
